The O.A.S.I.S. Hub
O.A.S.I.S - The Ontario African-Caribbean Social Innovation & Sensory Hub
For too long, Black families navigating autism have had to access support in spaces that were not designed with them in mind; where Black children are misunderstood, culture is invisible and needs go unmet.
Our Knowledge Hub & Sensory Space will be a permanent, culturally grounded location in Toronto where Black families can learn together, children can regulate and parents can seek support from professionals who are part of the community. Every wall, every shelf, every detail is a reflection of the people we serve.
The Sensory Space will showcase stories like Anansi that connect Canada to the Caribbean and the Motherland. The Center will also feature a culturally-rooted library, a private office space for meetings with professionals, an auditory lab, a treatment room and a community space for workshops and gatherings. It will be located on the Lower Level of TCC - The Creative Child at 1061 Eglinton Avenue West in Toronto.
But we need our community to help build it — and we are asking for your support!
Our Knowledge Hub & Sensory Space was designed by Black Thread and The Onyx Clinic.
